I bought it years ago, when LR was unusably slow for culling, and even when I moved to C1, which was faster, it was still no where near as quick as PM.

So still valuable for ingesting and sorting large numbers of images. Most people don't need PM, as its best suited to sports photographers and wildlife photographers, and I know of several wedding photographers who also use it. Speed of ingesting, adding and editing metadata, culling, making comparisons, renaming, uploading, managing uploads from different photographers etc. I use C1 (and LR) and PM does everything quickly, as its designed for speed. People said PM is for fast editing and organizing but I cant agree more since both LR and C1P can do the same thing.

If you don't need these functions or you are working at leisure on a powerful desktop, you probably don't need PM - but once you learn how to use it you will love it! Keywords and other metadata can be added extremely quickly and in many cases can be predefined so it is added at the touch of a button.ĭisplay is very fast so you can select (cull) images without having to wait while your software updates a catalog (it doesn't have a catalog) and then you can use it to automate the FTP transmission of your selected, keyworded and captioned files back to your base/publisher/whoever, again at the touch of a button. You can set it up so that it downloads images from your card, automatically renaming files and adding a whole bunch of metadata as it does so. PM is way faster than Lr, especially if you're in the field and you are using a lightweight laptop or tablet which doesn't have a load of memory or processing power. You're probably not in the target market for the product.
